Steel Princess book review

Steel Princess

by Rina Kent

After the shocking revelations from the end of the last book, Elsa must build herself up in ways she never thought she would need to before. She has a deep sense of betrayal and heartbreak, but she is not going to let that destroy her. However in order to do that, she must go head to head with the master manipulator himself, Aiden. But everything might not be as it seems, and she soon finds out that her and Aiden's story might be deeper than she had ever imagined.

Ok so, this is the second book in the trilogy, and if you read my last review of the first book, Deviant King, you'd know how much I liked it. Somehow, I would say that this book is even better. While Deviant King was very smut driven and didn't have much of a plot, this one mixes together a thrilling mystery and spicy smut in a great way. I have never had a lot of hope for the Rina Kent universe but this one in particular just knocks me off my feet. Again, it's not to say that the writing is any good, because it definitely is not, but despite that it is still a good read.

For a smut book, the plot twists and turns were actually really good, and I liked that we got to see a lot more of who these two characters actually are whole separate from each other. There are also a few chapters from Aidens point of view in this book which also helps explain his inner
working.

In this book we start to understand why Aiden is the way he is, and what really happened in the time before Elsa lost her memories. It was really interesting putting this story together as we slowly bit by bit uncover the past. On top of that, the smut was aaamazing. If you think the spice in the first book was good, this one brings it up to a much kinker level. Aiden is as dark and steamy as ever, and I would even argue more so once his secrets start being revealed. And trust me, there are a lot of them.

Sadly, Elsa is still treating Kim like complete trash. She hides things from her and is very selfish in a lot of ways. She seems to think that the whole world is centered around her at times, which I kind of understand because of all of the things that she has been through but still. Also, there is a new character introduced in this book named Knox that I would say she does even dirtier. She directly uses him to antagonize Aiden, when she knows full well what kind of danger that is putting him in. Even if he says that he's ok with it, he has no idea the extent Aiden will do to get Elsa back.

Elsa can also be very stupid sometimes in her own way. Like, she jumps to conclusions constantly without hearing Aiden out at all. While yes it makes more of an interesting book, it would be so easy to just have a conversation with him and then all of this miscommunication would be avoided. Also she falls for the same crap over and over again without ever learning her lesson. I mean the stuff with Silver? Aiden has used her as a way to make her jealous time and time again and she still falls for it. I mean seriously thinking that he had moved on and was now in love with Silver was just so stupid of her.

The side characters also get more focused in this book, and we learn more about each of their unique personalities. We also get some sneak peeks into their own love lives, with no spoilers of course, with characters that you may not expect. You can read about each of their separate stories in the rest of the Royal Elite series.

Basically, as I said in my last review, if you are going to read any trilogy in the Rina Kent universe, read this one. The story only gets better as it goes on and you will find yourself not only reading it for all of the spicy smut, but also for the underlying story that we slowly start to unravel.
